Lip Nourishing C/S Lip Balm: Moisturizing & Preventative Care
($5 | 5.5 ml)
I created this balm for a family member who struggled with cold sores. After researching scientific studies on essential oils with antiviral potential, this recipe took shape. However, I’m not claiming it heals or treats anything, but I personally use it to help stave off outbreaks in and among my family members and friends.
Nature’s Protective Blend
Coconut oil and beeswax form a hydrating base that seals in moisture and shields lips from environmental stress. Vitamin E oil supports healing and keeps skin healthy. While melissa oil, historically prized for its antiviral properties, has been used in traditional herbalism for centuries against the herpes simplex virus. Eucalyptus globulus and tea tree oils bring additional antiviral and anti-inflammatory benefits, helping soothe irritation. Sandalwood and frankincense add calming, skin-comforting effects that complete this powerhouse blend.
A Tradition of Soothing Care
Folklore tells us Melissa, also known as lemon balm, was cultivated in medieval monastery gardens as a “balm for the heart and spirit” — and for the skin. Tea tree has long been a go-to in Australian bush medicine for its cleansing and restorative powers. These time-honored uses inspired the balancing, comforting nature of this lip balm.
Use With Care
This blend is sun-sensitive. So avoid prolonged sun exposure for 12 hours after application, and never use before tanning. It’s best suited for indoor days, cooler months, or evenings.
I like pairing Lip Nourishing C/S Lip Balm with Great Balls of Fire, First Aid (my go-to face oil for acne), and Relaxy Bath for a complete skin-soothing routine.
