How the Power of Nature Can Clean Anything
I created Citrus Bean Foaming Hand Soap to meet a request. For one, I do not have a passion for making bar soap. I love using it, and do make it on occasion for gifts, but selling it is not a priority. I mainly use liquid castile soap in all of my household chores therefore lean towards liquid soap in general.
How It’s Made
The base of Citrus Bean Foaming Hand Soap is the plain castile soap.
- Story Time: As I researched I found that Castile soap can be traced back to the Mediterranean region, especially Spain. Its name originates from the Kingdom of Castile, a historic region in modern-day Spain. Early Castile soap was inspired by Aleppo soap, a traditional soap made in the Middle East using olive oil and laurel oil. When Crusaders encountered Aleppo soap in the 11th century, they brought the concept to Europe. Eventually, European soap makers adapted the recipe, creating a version using only olive oil, which became Castile soap.
And we’re back. My next step is to infuse Fair Trade coffee grounds into filtered water and let that sit for about 30 minutes. Then strain and add into the castile soap. I love the natural color of the coffee infused water. Nature will out.
After that I mix in Aloe Gel, Vitamin E, Jojoba, Vanilla Extract, and essential oils of: Coffee (Coffea arabica), Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis), and Cinnamon Bark (Cinnamomum zeylanicum). This creates a warm and mildly spicy blend that reminds me of Fall.
How To Use
First you must wet your hands thoroughly and then use 1-2 pumps of Citrus Bean Foaming Hand Soap. Next lather your hands really well while you sing those hand washing ABCs. Lastly rinse and dry like normal. Applying a wonderful body butter, like Vanilla Latte Whipped Body Butter, afterwards is always a bonsu.
