Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea) is probably the most well known herb in this set. By the 19th century this plant was known as Snakeroot because of its efficacy in healing snake bites. It is so good at combating viral and bacterial infections as well as clearing toxins from the body. Echinacea has been clinically proven at increasing the number of white blood cells in the body. The polysaccharides inhibit the ability of viruses to take over cells while the alkylamides are antibacterial and antifungal. The Comanche used this herb for toothache and sore throats while the Sioux took it for rabies, snake bites and septic conditions. It is not only excellent as an internal ally it can heal acne and boils when applied topically. The list goes on and the great thing about this plant is you can find it everywhere.
