Description
Hot Blooded: Herbal Warming Salve (1 oz)
Pure Herbs, No Essential Oils
Hot Blooded is an all-herbal infusion crafted for mild pain relief and circulation support—completely free of essential oils. I combine German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) and clove bud (Syzygium aromaticum) for gentle analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Chamomile’s compounds, such as apigenin and bisabolol, have been shown in recent studies to reduce inflammation and ease muscle discomfort. Clove bud’s eugenol supports pain relief by interacting with nerve signaling pathways.
Traditional Trauma Oil
My base is trauma oil, a time-honored blend of arnica (Arnica montana), St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum), and calendula (Calendula officinalis). Herbalists, like myself, have long used this trio to help repair tissue, reduce swelling, and relieve bruising. Modern research supports these uses—showing they promote fibroblast activity, calm inflammation, and protect cells from oxidative stress.
Circulatory Heat
Cayenne pepper (Capsicum annuum) and ginger root (Zingiber officinale) add a natural warming effect. These herbs boost local blood flow, easing stiffness and supporting recovery in areas of sluggish circulation. The warmth is comforting yet mild, making this salve an excellent choice for joints, feet, and sore muscles.
Use & Care
I massage into affected areas as needed while avoiding the face due to cayenne’s heat. Then wash hands after use. Hot Blooded pairs beautifully with Castor Queen, Mensi Madness, and Dottie’s Rescue Remedy for a complete herbal care regimen.
Folklore Roots
Chamomile and calendula were beloved in European folk medicine—chamomile for its “golden” calming energy and calendula for protection and wound care. St. John’s wort, harvested on Midsummer’s Eve, was thought to guard against harm. Cayenne and ginger, once prized trade spices, were valued for “kindling the inner fire” and restoring vitality.
